Library IT & Imaging Facilities

The Library IT staff can offer aid and assistance to University community members in various ways to help them get started on their own digital project or conversion needs. The lab offers training for slide and image scanning, video digitization, audio recording/editing as well as basic text scanning.*  Instructors and TAs can make reservations to use the Lab by emailing patrice.scanlon@stonybrook.edu.

 

General Lab Hardware includes:

  • iMacs and PCs  (running OS X 10.5 or 10.6; Windows 7 and X-P)
  • Flatbed image or book scanner  (Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL; Canon 9000F)
  • Hi-Speed Document Scanner  (Canon DR9080C)
  • CD/DVD Burners
  • Samsung VCR
  • 35mm Slide Scanner  (Nikon Super Coolscan 5000)
     

General Lab Software includes:

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0
  • Adobe PhotoShop CS3
  • Omni Page Pro 15 OCR
  • Dreamweaver 8
  • Silverfast AI
  • MicroSoft Office Suite
