Evaluating Websites

A Note About .ORG Sites

Remember unlike .EDU or .GOV, a .ORG domain has no restrictions on registration. That means anyone can register a website with a URL ending in .ORG. Keep that in mind when evaluating information contained on .ORG sites. Many .ORG sites are used by reputable, non-profit organizations but .ORG doesn't necessarily indicate that the site is for a non-profit organization or that the information presented is reliable. If you're not sure if the site is run by a legitimate organization, do a little research.

If you want to check it out for yourself, go to godaddy.com or another domain registration site and see if yourname.org is available for purchase.
