The new NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy (DMSP) is slated to go into effect on January 25, 2023. All grant applications that are submitted on or after that date will need to meet the new requirements in order to be eligible for funding. Information regarding this new policy is available on this guide, as well as here on the NIH website.
The major changes associated with this new policy are as follows:
1) A Data Management Sharing Plan (DMSP) must be submitted with all applications, regardless of the amount of funds being requested.
2) Expenses incurred for data management and sharing can be included in the application.
3) Researchers must comply with the DMSP. Data must be shared at the end of the performance period of the grant or the time of publication of a manuscript based on the data, whichever comes first.
