I bet you are wondering: why does a Study Center devoted to the founders of Abstract Expressionism in the 20th Century have a collection of materials about the American Impressionist Painters of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries? The reason is the answer to the question: why did both groups of artists come to the East End of Long Island? The answer: the natural environment, the light, the sea, and the scenery. Because of this, the Study Center maintains books and artist files on American Impressionist painters.
