SBU Libraries - Strategic Plan 2024

A place for news and updates related to the strategic planning process of Stony Brook University Libraries, 2024- 2029.

What we're thinking about

Our strategic plan is also a strategic direction that will inspire our objectives. We will be considering broad-themed priorities to help the libraries meet the current requirements of our community by using our expertise and experience. These goals will sit within our overarching themes that are incorporated in all of our work: diversity, equity, inclusion, & accessibility; leadership; and infrastructure (technology and facilities).

Based on what we are learning from feedback, we strive to build a stable, supportive, and inspiring workplace for our people in the libraries.

Priorities, Themes, and Objectives

The Libraries follow the university's strategic planning language using the terms priorities and objectives. Objectives will be written with the chosen themes found throughout the priorities. These are subject to change as we learn from the feedback we receive from our colleagues and the SBU community.

  • Priorities - the committee drafted four priorities
  • Objectives - ideas formed between the planning committee and the library community in forums
  • Themes - the committee drafted three themes to be considered while the objectives are written
