Women's History Month

March is Women's History Month.

Women's History Month began when, in 1981, Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 requesting the President to issue a proclamation designating the week of 7 March 1982 "Women's History Week." The proclamations continued each year until 1987 when, partly in response to requests from the National Women's History Project (NWHP), Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which made March 1987 the first Women's History Month.
