This guide is intended to help undergraduate students become informed about financial information. Content includes information about student loans, credit scores, and taxes.

Search Tips

There is a lot of financial misinformation on the internet. Here are some tips on how to find accurate financial information. First, do not be afraid! It is normal to be overwhelmed by all the information you find, but here are some terms to help you out:

  • Financial wellbeing
  • College financial literacy
  • Consumer financial information

Before you start your Google search, or SBU's Everything search, you want to prepare your search terms in advance. On the bottom of this page you will find some useful search terms related to personal finances.

When searching, you want to use your helpful Boolean operators: AND, OR, NOT. By using AND, OR, NOT, you can expand or limit your search.

For example, you can use "credit union" AND "fees" to find out more about credit unions and how they may differ from traditional banks.
