U.S. funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health require researchers to supply detailed, cost-effective plans for managing research data, called Data Management Plans.
Several universities and organizations are developing the DMPTool to help researchers meet these new requirements. In specific, the DMPTool will help researchers:

> Get step-by-step instructions and guidance for data management plan
> Learn about resources and services available at your institution to fulfill the data management requirements of their grants
Stony Brook Medicine has launched BOX to enable all faculty, staff and students to securely access content, store and share files and collaborate with Stony Brook Medicine Box and non-Stony Brook Medicine Box users from anywhere and on any device.
Google Docs is a word processor included as part of the free, web-based Google Docs Editors suite offered by Google. The service also includes Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drawings, Google Forms, Google Sites, and Google Keep. Can only be accessed through a stonybrook.edu account or a personal gmail account.
The Handy cluster is for use by IACS Core & Affiliate Faculty and their students/collaborators only. Handy's hardware includes 40 compute nodes (each with dual socket 2.6 GHz Xeon E5-2670 processors, 16 cores per node, and 128 GB of memory), and two high-performance file servers direct attached to a total of 350 TB of storage. In addition there are two “fat” nodes configured with more memory (256 GB) to support data analysis and software development.
1TB file storage accessible in the cloud that you can access and share from any phone, tablet or computer. OneDrive provides the ability to create, edit and share files without software, just Internet access. And you can work with other people in realtime on Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote files.
R is a programming language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. SINC Site users can access R through the RStudio software available on Windows computers.
SAS is an integrated system of software providing data entry, project management, reporting, statistical analysis, and business planning, forecasting, and decision support. Provided to SBU faculty, staff and students by DOIT.
SeaWulf is a computational cluster using top of the line components from Penguin, DDN, Intel, Nvidia, Mellanox and numerous other technology partners. Its name is a portmanteau of "Seawolf" and "Beowulf," the name of one of the first high performance computing clusters.
SPSS is a statistical and data mining software package that allows you to analyze research data to make smarter decisions, solve problems and improve outcomes. Stony Brook students can access SPSS at no charge from any of the TLT-managed SINC Sites on campus and the Virtual SINC Site.
Qualtrics is a hosted survey and research tool that Stony Brook University has subscribed to in order to conduct quality surveys with the end result of collecting and analyzing data. It is available to all students, faculty, and staff who have an active NetID.
OnCore is a web-based clinical trials management system (CTMS), allowing users to centrally manage many aspects of the clinical trial workflow, including scheduling, financials, compliance, recruitment, data capture, and reporting.
REDCap is a secure web platform for building and managing online databases and surveys. REDCap's streamlined process for rapidly creating and designing projects offers a vast array of tools that can be tailored to virtually any data collection strategy.
