This page contains all of the general documents for those who teach students in the clinical setting. Please read through these before you read your department/speciality specific documents.
Below are the Renaissance School of Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education Policies that you need to know when teaching students in the clinical setting.
The following presentation, which is delivered to students during their Introduction to Clinical Medicine course, explores how to recognize behaviors that foster a respectful, inclusive learning environment and those that can undermine it. It provides examples of appropriate and inappropriate conduct and considers their impact on learners. Additionally it explains the policies and procedures that Stony Brook University and the Renaissance School of Medicine has in place to ensure a safe environment for learning and serving patients.
In collaboration with Faculty Affairs, the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education provides training for all faculty and residents who work at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Once a month from September-May we have faculty development sessions on teaching pedagogy and instructional technology. We also have a guide with session recordings, information about topics we teach, and additional resources. Check out our Faculty Development for Medical Educators Guide.
