Kanopy Streaming Video

Kanopy Streaming Video is a repository of streaming films supporting research and teaching in the arts and humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences, and technical fields. Content includes documentaries, training videos, and foreign language materials.

Search by title or subject, or browse Kanopy using the curated the collections on the homepage.

Kanopy videos can be viewed by an unlimited number of simultaneous users at Stony Brook University.  Viewers can share links to films, embed content in Blackboard sites, and create playlists and clips.

SBU users can access Kanopy off-campus using their NetID and password.  It is not necessary to create a Kanopy acount or to log in at the top right of the Kanopy landing page in order to search for and view content.  A Kanopy account allows users to create playlists, clips, and a viewing history.

Alexander Street: Academic Video Online (AVON)

The Alexander Street: Academic Video Online (AVON) streaming video collection offers access to over 80,000 films to support research and teaching in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and health sciences.

Academic Video Online is the most comprehensive video subscription available to libraries. It delivers video titles spanning the widest range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. Curated for the educational experience, the massive depth of content and breadth of content-types (such as documentaries, films, demonstrations, etc.) makes this database a useful resource for faculty and students alike.  AVON includes titles from publishers BBC, CBS, A&E, and PBS, among others.

Swank Digital Campus

Swank Digital Campus offers on-demand streaming video by subscription, with an emphasis on feature films.
