Wikipedia is fine for quick answers but it's not a reliable source for academic research. Anyone can contribute content to Wikipedia and there is no guarantee that the information posted is accurate.
You have some academic options when you need a quick overview on a topic:
Try the Library's discovery tool! Enter a topic in the search box and then click on Research Starter in the results. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page for the citation.
Try Britannica Online! It's also an online encyclopedia but it's not a wiki so there is less risk of incorrect information.
Try Opposing Viewpoints! It's a database that includes newspapers, magazines, video, audio and general reference sources. But it also provides an overview on many topics.
Once you find your topic, check the bottom of the page for citation information.
