Streaming Video: SBU Streaming Video Collections

Welcome!

Use this guide to find streaming video content at SBU Libraries.  Start by searching the databases in the boxes below to find content quickly and efficiently.  These videos are available to unlimited simultaneous users, and can be accessed anywhere using your SBU NetID and password.

Streaming videos are ideal for use in teaching.  Many of them can be embedded in Blackboard sites.  Some databases, such as Kanopy, allow instructors to create playlists or clips to share with students.  Find more information here

The Libraries offer content from a variety of publishers in order to support the diversity of research and learning at Stony Brook University.  For this reason, interfaces and functionalities may vary between streaming video platforms.  If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail (see Get Help, below) or by chat (Ask Us button in upper right corner).  If you are unable to find the video that you need, please contact the appropriate subject librarian.

For Off-Campus Access: Use your NetID and password.

Kanopy Streaming Video

Kanopy Streaming Video is a repository of streaming films supporting research and teaching in the arts and humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences, and technical fields. Content includes documentaries, training videos, and foreign language materials.

Search by title or subject, or browse Kanopy using the curated the collections on the homepage.

Kanopy videos can be viewed by an unlimited number of simultaneous users at Stony Brook University.  Viewers can share links to films, embed content in Blackboard sites, and create playlists and clips.

SBU users can access Kanopy off-campus using their NetID and password.  It is not necessary to create a Kanopy acount or to log in at the top right of the Kanopy landing page in order to search for and view content.  A Kanopy account allows users to create playlists, clips, and a viewing history.

For help with Kanopy, consult this page or contact the Libraries using the E-mail Me button at the right side of the page, or the Ask Us button at the top right.
