BUS 115: Introduction to Business: Ethics/Social Responsibility

In LexisNexis Academic :

• In the Get Company Info box, click on the Company Dossier link.
• Type in your company name or ticker symbol.

• Select your company from list if necessary.
• When the Company Snapshot page comes up, use the menu on the left and click on Legal Information.
• From there you can investigate lawsuits in the US or abroad depending on your company.

• Click on the case name to read information about the case. Use the case name and date to find articles on the lawsuit that might be easier to read and understand.
• You may also want to use the case name to search for news articles on the case. Articles will be written in "plain english" as opposed to the "legalese" of the case document.

Check the Legal Proceedings section of the company's 10K (annual report) for information on lawsuits that the company is currently involved in.

The 10K can be accessed through Hoover's or the company website. The 10K is a report filed annually with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) so look for an SEC Filings link or something similar on the company website. On Hoover's, go to the Company Profile page and mouse over the Financials link in the company index section. Select SEC Filings. In the Refile By Form Type box, check the box next to Annual Reports - 10K. Select the most recent report from the results list.

When looking for Ethics or Social Responsibility information on your company's website, remember to check the About Us, Corporate, or Investor Relations links. You may find relevant information using links called:

• Statement of Ethics or Ethics Office
• Global Responsibility
• Philanthropy
• Sustainability
