The mission of the Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery Department is to support the research and teaching needs of the Stony Brook University academic community by expanding the range of materials available for scholarship beyond the physical and electronic collections of the Stony Brook University Libraries.
Limits on Interlibrary Loan or Document Delivery requests
The number of active interlibrary loan requests will depend on patron status. ILL requests in excess of the stated limit will not be filled until borrowed material is returned. Please plan accordingly.
Please speak to Interlibrary Loan department staff if you require special consideration regarding these limits.
Patrons are asked to submit no more than 10 ILL requests a day.
Things to do before placing an interlibrary loan request:
Once you have confirmed that the item is not in our collection, log in to ILLiad and place your request.
To make an Intelibrary Loan or Document Delivery request, you must first log in to you account on ILLiad. If you have a NetID, you must use the NetID to access your account. First time users will be required to complete a registration form.
How long does it take to get material through Interlibrary Loan?
Many requests that can be delivered electronically are available within 24-48 hours.
Print resources can take longer and are, on average, available within 8-10 business days.
